Black Friday is undoubtedly one of the best times of the year to grab a bargain.
There’s been a lot of stuff in the media lately about how Black Friday deals might not be all they’re cracked up to be. Personally I think if you do it right you can save a fortune…just make sure you’re not dragged into the madness and end up buying things you don’t need!
Do your research in advance!
I’ve written my Christmas shopping list so I know all the specific items I need to get. If you do this it’s a lot easier to get a genuine bargain.
I’ve been keeping an eye on the prices of the products I want over the past few weeks to see if they drop. A couple of them already have, so it’s unlikely they’ll be much cheaper on Black Friday, so I’ve already bought them. Other stuff hasn’t been reduced so I’m holding out until Friday – if they don’t go on sale I haven’t lost out anyway.
Get an extra discount with Zeek
Zeek is an awesome website that sells people’s unwanted gift cards for a discount. If you know there’s an online shop you’ll be buying from, see if you can get a discounted giftcard to make your spend a bit cheaper.
Sign up to Zeek with my link and you’ll get £5 off your first purchase, so you could get a serious discount! I bought a £20 Dorothy Perkins card for £19 recently – with my £5 bonus it was only £14 so I saved £6 in total!
Always compare prices with other retailers
Don’t assume just because it’s reduced it’s the cheapest on the market! Google’s shopping feature is great for quickly comparing prices.
Use a cashback site to earn money on your shopping
Quidco and TopCashback both give you cashback on your online shopping.
Both sites can take a loooooong time to pay out – I’m talking months in some cases, but it’s just extra money you won’t have otherwise so see it as a bonus whenever it does come in! Personally I prefer Quidco and rarely use TopCashback, but if you want to really get the highest value, sign up to both and compare the cashback rates before you shop.
DON’T BUY THINGS YOU DON’T NEED!
It may sound obvious but it’s actually really easy to get caught up in the hype and end up spending a load more than you intended or buy things you don’t need purely because they are ‘bargains’. If you didn’t want or need it is it really a bargain? I think not! I’ve got a clear list of items I need for my Xmas shopping and they are the ONLY things I’ll be buying.
I’ll be posting on my Facebook page throughout the day with the best bargains and discounts so ‘Like’ and follow my page to save big on your Xmas shopping!
